Country poems are illustrated by several Modoc artists

About the Artists

Pam Anderberg, originally Pam Irish, she married Jeff Anderberg, son by Bev Callagan of Dean and Marsha Anderberg of Ft. Bidwell. She uses an artistic style called twig and ink where you apply the ink with a twig. She and Jeff live in San Bruno, California.
Maureen Hughes, also known as Dullmoon by her gracious, compassionate brother, me. She in turn calls me Stone, as in Stone Henge. She and her husband, Marv, live in Oak Harbor, Washington, where they spend their time counting the sunny days of the year and listening for the Pugent Sound.

Kelly Manley, daughter of Dullmoon, loves horses, art, her family, husband Barry, daughter Kerry, and son Robby. They live in Boulder, Colorado. Kelly has been known to sing an Irish song that would melt the frost on your beer mug.

Tommy McMahon was raised near Tulelake where it was safer to drink beer than the water. He became
a correctional officer to avoid ending up on the other side of the fence. He likes hunting, fishing, beer, and art. He now lives in Buffalo, Wyoming.

Dean Neer did his first pen and ink drawing for this book. Then he did two more. He raises Hereford cattle, hay, and has his own real estate office. People who buy bulls from Dean come back for more. His cattle have an excellent conversion rate of three or four to one, which in the cow business means that for every three or four cows that you have, you lose only one thousand dollars by converting your greenbacks to brown plops.

Marie Neer was a hold out on the drawings and waited until the deadline to do one. Little did she know that to me deadlines are like doorknobs, just a little twist and you go on to the next one. Once her talent was out of the bag I gave her more assignments. Marie teaches English at Modoc High School to support her hobbies of flowers, the arts, wine, cats, cows, bulls and baby calves. She and Dean live on the Neer Hereford Ranch next to the Modoc National Wildlife Refuge, Alturas, California.

Beverly, wife of Stone, originally Beverly Porter, raised on Parker Creek. Her main interests now are hunting, fishing, looking for deer, and especially her grandchildren.
